Accessibility

Our target

Smallbiztools aims to make its tools usable by people with disabilities, with WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the improvement target. This is a target, not a certification or a claim that every page and exported file fully conforms.

The site uses labeled controls, keyboard-operable actions and readable layouts, and we work to identify and correct barriers. Automated checks and limited manual testing do not replace testing with people using assistive technology.

Known limits

Complex tables, dynamically generated results, clipboard actions and browser file/download dialogs can behave differently across assistive technologies. Generated PDFs are not guaranteed to be tagged or have an accessible reading order. External websites have their own accessibility practices.

If a result or export is difficult to use, contact us about an alternative format or a way to complete the task. Do not include sensitive business records in your report.

Use on-screen results or a text/CSV download when the tool offers that option. If those do not meet your needs, email Rick about an alternative format.

Report a barrier

Email rickkoston@gmail.com with the page address, the task you were attempting, what prevented you from completing it, and the browser or assistive technology you use if you are comfortable sharing that information. We will use reports to investigate and prioritize improvements.

Review on October 12, 2026

We checked all 263 public pages with an automated accessibility scanner against its WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules, including earlier WCAG criteria. No violations were reported in that scan after corrections. We also checked representative expanded forms and results, keyboard navigation, focus after changes, error messages, narrow layouts and text spacing.

The work corrected low-contrast text and keyboard focus loss after filtering, saving, removing rows, removing comparison items and removing PDF files. The footer uses keyboard-operable expandable categories.

This review used Chromium and automated browser checks. It did not include people using NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver or other screen readers. Screen-reader announcements, every browser/device combination, and the accessibility of generated PDFs have not been fully verified. A clean automated scan does not establish full WCAG or ADA compliance.
